Coastal Sports
We are pleased to include as a part of our kindergarten and grades curriculum, hiking in the fall and an introduction to sailing and kayaking in the spring.
We partner with experienced agencies who specialize in delivering sailing and kayaking programs to children. Recognizing that the watersports program is weather dependent, the program will remain flexible to accommodate the comfort and safety of Beachcombers students.

Children have the option to remain on shore, if they wish. Safety is always the first priority. Students learn a variety of related skills including water safety, weather science (meteorology), boat care, and teamwork.
Students may participate in other special coastal sports that vary year-to-year; some of these may have extra costs. In 2010-11 students did two multi-water-sport days including stand-up paddling. In 2011-12 the Dolphin (senior) students participated in a "bubble program" an introduction to diving at the Courtenay pool. Day hikes, geo-cashing for older students, and skiing are popular special programming.
