School & Grounds

Picture
Our ocean-view school is a joy to be in!

The school was completely renovated in 2011. A secondary renovation was completed in 2015, adding a beautiful new preschool room and deck. The grounds and play area were upgraded including the addition of a wooden play structure that is situated on the ground between two trees, hence known as the 'tree house'. It sports a small climbing wall and slide.

We have used natural and low-VOC building materials and prioritized healthy building practice. This includes natural Marmoleum flooring, natural vegetable-based floor finish on our wooden floors, zero-VOC paint, and recycled and zero-VOC or formaldehyde-free insulation.

The initial renovation included seismic upgrades and a state-of-the-art ventilation system for healthy indoor air quality.

The grounds are over an acre, providing lots of room for students to run and play.

The playground includes a combination of landscaped play areas, a student garden and play structures including swings and slide.

Beachcombers Academy has an acre of grounds with a beautiful ocean view.

With beautiful ocean views from every classroom and the play area, this is a charming and lovely environment for our students. There are five classrooms with decks off each classroom, a kitchen and entry room as well as offices, storage and student and staff washroom facilities. Our preschool has a stunning stained glass art installation by Ted Goodden.

Sea lions can often be heard; there is always a connection to nature from our school.
